Antigens analyzed are selected based on the number of cells available, morphologic assessment, and patient diagnosis.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics within 4 hours of draw. Specimen accepted Sunday through Thursday anytime. Specimen must be received by 2 p.m. on Friday or the day before a holiday.

 

Specimen Type: Whole blood

Container/Tube: Lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 4 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 2.5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Do not centrifuge.

2. Specimen >24 hours old at time of analysis are not acceptable.

Additional Information:

1. WBC and differential results, and an unstained slide must be sent with the specimen

2. Indicate patient’s diagnosis on requisition.
