Particle Enhanced immunoturbidimetric
This test is recommended for cardiovascular risk assessment. If assessment of inflammatory disease, post-operative infections, or to monitor inflammatory processes see #SQ ICRP, EPIC LAB2392 C-Reactive Protein for Infection, Plasma.
This test is useful for assessment of risk of developing myocardial infarction in patients presenting with acute coronary syndromes and of risk of developing cardiovascular disease or ischemic events in individuals who do not manifest disease at present.

Reference Values

<1.0 mg/L: low cardiovascular disease risk

1.0-3.0 mg/L: moderate cardiovascular disease risk

>3.0 mg/L: high cardiovascular disease risk

 

Note: Patients treated with carboxypenicillins (ticarcillin, a.k.a. Timentin) may have significantly decreased CRP values.

Plasma is stable at ambient temperature (15o C-25o C) for 7 days, refrigerated (2o C-8o C) for 7 days, and frozen (≤-20oC) 3 years.
