Test Code SQ URIC, EPIC LAB141 Uric Acid, Plasma

Important Note

When patient blood or urine sample is taken while elevated levels of N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone imine (NAPQI, a metabolite of Acetaminophen) and/or N-acetylcysteine (NAC) are still present, possible interference may lead to falsely low recovery of assays that use the Trinder methodology.

There appears to be no risk for results in the normal reference range; however, there could be a medical risk related to results in the range of medical decisions and differentiation of diagnoses for patients that have had Acetaminophen and/or NAC administered if the blood/urine samples have been collected before sufficient time has lapsed.
